Engaging on Social Media

We write a lot about social media strategies here at RPM. But one thing we see people forget time and time again is the “social” part of social media. It’s not enough to post content every week, no matter how good it is. Sure, some of what you post may be just advertising splashes, but if you’re not reaching out and engaging in dialogue with people, you’re missing the whole point. Facebook started out as a way for people to communicate with each other. It still is but lets not forget that communication is a 2 way street! So how do we start engaging in conversation? Well, you have to set yourself up for success by making posts that ask for it. When brainstorming for post idea’s, try to think from the perspective of how to get people to start talking. For example, instead of posting a beautiful picture of […]

Positive Attracts Positive

Some of the greatest insight on life I’ve gotten is that you can do anything if you put your mind to it. The only thing holding you back on any dreams in life is yourself. I truly believe in this. Think about it, lets say you’re on a run and you keep telling yourself to push farther and harder, you’re going to do it. You’re going to surprise yourself and feel the greatest sense of accomplishment. If you tell yourself that you can’t do it, and being negative, you are probably right; you can’t do it with that mindset. It is really all where your heads at. It’s tough trying new things, meeting new people, and keeping a smile plastered on your face all at the same time. But if you think about it, when have new experiences ever hurt you, or brought you down? If you work on changing […]

First Drafts: write first, edit later

Are you in charge of your social media accounts? How about your blog or print advertising? This post is going to be a little different in that we won’t be discussing specific marketing strategies. Instead we’re going to talk about the nuts and bolts of producing content. Writing can be tough. Every word you type seems to have an air of permanence. What if you type something wrong, or you come back later and think it was a dumb thing to say? They’re all going to laugh at you! OK, we’re kidding of course, and it may be an exaggeration, but for many highly intelligent people writing anything for public consumption is a seriously tough hurdle to clear. As they sit and stare at the blank computer screen, figuring out how to start, they’ll type a few letters, then delete. Then maybe a whole sentence or two, then delete. We […]

How to Use YouTube to Reach Your Customers

As of June 2014, YouTube passed Facebook as the largest social media site in the world. Facebook is a well known advertising platform but as a newer service, Youtube is massively underutilized. Millions of videos are uploaded every day and with each one goes an opportunity to get your message out to the right audience. By targeting specific channels you can be assured that you’re reaching the right market segment without spraying your message needlessly. Less effort and more return..sounds pretty good. Lets take a look at the basics of instream ads. Instream ads are those annoying videos that pop up first when you click on something you want to watch. Often you have the option of skipping it after the first 5 seconds. Most of the time we skip through them but every once in a while something catches our attention. But don’t you ever think it’s weird that […]
